Free English Classes for Parents
Free beginners English classes will be held in the Parent's Room on Mondays and Thursdays from 9am - 12pm. There will be tea/coffee/biscuits and the chance to meet with other parents.
Gardening
The walls in our garden project are coming along beautifully thanks to the parent volunteers who are painting them! We would love to have anyone who has the time to join us in this venture
Woodwork
We are very privileged to now have a woodwork room located behind the stage in our hall. This was established by Shane Griffin who is shared HSCL in our school. This is open to parents throughout the school day and also used for workshops which are held on a regular basis. If you are interested, call Shane on 086 6040686
Projects to date include making birdboxes, flower planters, benches and herb pallet planters, all of which we will be using in our school garden. Some of the children were even involved in decorating the birdboxes. Thank you for all the hard work to date and we look forward to lots more parents getting involved in projects in the future.
Craft Club
Our parents' craft club meet in the parents' room every Friday morning at 9am under the coordination of Liliana Lacka who is chairperson of our Parents' Association. Parents come together to share their skills and produce talented pieces which help to make our parents' room and school environment more attractive. They are, at present, very busy making gifts for our 2nd and 6th class students. This is an informal group and parents are very welcome to join us whenever they are available. Look at some of their beautiful work below and if you feel you could benefit from this club, just call in :-)
Parent Courses
Since HSCL started in Holy Family Schools, we have been committed to providing a variety of informative and interesting courses for our parents. Every year, in conjunction with The Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB) and The Clare Local Development Committee (CLDC), a timetable of courses is established. In the past, these have included classes in English, Cookery, ICT, Irish, Health and Wellbeing and Looking after the Family. Courses are advertised by posters around the school and through Text a Parent. All parents are welcome to participate in these courses. Contact Olivia on 086 6040686 if you are interested in attending a course or if you have any ideas about courses you would like to see run in the school.
