Seachtain na Gaeilge 2017

Thu, Mar 16th, 2017

What an exciting week we have had at Holy Family Senior School for Seachtain na Gaeilge. We all made a huge effort to use our Irish and to speak Irish as much as we could throughout the day. Each day over our school intercom we listened to different Irish traditional dances - jigs, reels and hornpipes and learned how to identify each one.
On Tuesday, we had a special Seachtain na Gaeilge Assembly, with each year group performing poems, songs, agallamh beirte - we even had the Haka performed as Gaeilge. It finished with the whole school performing An Dreoilín with actions.
Wednesday saw each year group attend Tráth na gceist in our cafe and there was great fun and competition at this.
Thursday - our Lá Glas. Each child dressed in Green Clothes and attended our Céilí Mór in the cafe with Maggie Hutton.

We had so much fun speaking and doing fun activities in Irish that we are going to keep up the good work and keep using our Irish as often as we can.

Beatha teanga í a labhairt!
